Sanyo Travel Cooker RN-38NF

I got this travel cooker when I was constantly outstation. At times I would be out in no man's land for weeks and I was sick and tired of their local diet which is either bread or fries. Constantly eating out was also eating into my budget.

The great thing about having this cooker when travelling, if you are hungry in the night, you can whip out an instant noodle easily or make yourself a hot drink. When I was in India and ran out of drinking water, I use this cooker to boil water from the tap just to be on the safe side. The cooker comes with multiply voltage selector so that you are able to use in most countries and in also include a build in safety protection.

Portable Personal Air-Con

Here is another one of my project for Hot Summer days. The idea was to build a portable air-con for my partner during camping in our vehicle or tent at the same time I can use it at home. You can search under Youtube "DIY Air Conditioner". I have seen most of Youtube videos. Most of them used ice-cooler box which I felt it was too big. I needed something small and yet produce the same effect, easy to construct with minimum cost.

Kohjinsha SH610

Last weekend my laptop had a disk error, tired many methods but Windows simply refuse to format during installation. Tried external disk drive, even flash drive and there was no way of formatting the hard drive unless I remove it from the laptop and use a portable drive to do it. Below are the photos of how I had operated my laptop.

Solar Focus SolarMio

Finally my last item for my backapacking list has arrived. This is a replacement from my previous solar gadget Solio which I have lost it in Cingjing Farm. I prefered to use the product from Solar Focus is because of its durability however it is twice the size compared to Solio which is more pocketable. You can read on my review of these 2 products here.
There is another product by Solar Focus is the SolarDuo Purse. I was debating between the Mio and Duo and finally I set on the SolarMio. Looking at the specification for both product below.

Using Garmin GPS 60 automotive windscreen suction mount for Oregon

Currently Garmin do not sell just an automotive mount for Oregon. They come in a package with the car charger which I do not need as I have made one of my own using just a USB cigarette lighter adaptor and a USB cable. I have been trying to figure out how I could use the GPS 60 mount for Oregon and finally I found the solution as simple as ABC.

Garmin Oregon / Colorado Bike Stem Mount

A request from a viewer on this blog. The stem mount came as a gift when I purchased the Oregon 400t. The Garmin Colorado uses the same mount. The bike mount can be mounted either on the bike stem or handlebar up to 1 inch diameter.

Petzl Tikka XP LED Headlamp

I have gave up all my hand lamps and use head lamp instead and this is my all time favourite headlamp.  I sold my Petzl MYO XP for it. Not to say the MYO XP is not good but I felt it did not really suit my usage. It is definitely brighter compare to Tikka XP and uses 3 x AA batteries but heavier and bulkier.

Garmin Speed /Cadence Sensor with Oregon 400t

Having problem setting up the speed / cadence sensor. The Oregon 400t seems to have problem connecting to the speed sensor but not the cadence sensor.
Impt Update:
After my correspondence with Garmin, they have now indicated on the website that the Speed Cadence Sensor will only work with Cadence but not Speed

Sanyo eneloop rechargeable Battery

I got these batteries about a year back after reading an article by StefanV. I decided to try them after my Sony rechargeable batteries was depleting too fast and decided to replace them. I purchased the eneloop USB charging version since I wanted to travel light weighing only 48g and after extensive usage for a year the unit is still working fine.

Garmin 400t Taiwan Hand Writing Recognition

A video to show the Garmin 400t Taiwan model hand writing recognition. Though the hand writing input is not smooth with the finger but using a pen or stylus the input seems to be better. Maybe is the size of our finger. Almost all the words input have been found in the Garmin 400t. Note that the Garmin Oregon has a ZAGG invisible shield on it and it doesn't affect the touch screen.

ZAGG Invisible SHIELD on Oregon 400t

Finally after placing an order on the 9 Feb, today I received it in my mailbox. I had used many screen protectors before but this ZAGG came to me as a surprise how it was made and easy to handle.
The company claims the military-grade, patented film is tough it and it doesn't scratch. You can even remove countless of time and wash it. The company also provides a lifetime free replacement guarantee or 30 days money back guarantee!!

Garmin Mapsource Taiwan Topo NT v6.0

This software came together with the Oregon 400t. I had tried many times to install but it failed. After consulting with Garmin Taiwan and informing them that I had current English version Mapsource installed, they came up with a solution. It is a better version due to the fact that it combines both Taiwan City Navigator NT and Topo map in one.

I do wish they come out with the English version soon.

Solar FocusMio 31 vs Solio Magnesium

I happen to read up a blog from my friend "ak" and I came across this interesting product in Taiwan. I had owned the Solio Charger and I really like it as it fold into a clamp shell. But it seems the product from Solar Focus is more durable compare to Solio. I have not owned the Solio Magnesium edition but for sure my Solio Classic version will never be able to survive a crash test.

Power Up!!

In today's world, everything needs power. As the world advances, more portable gadget we owned and more power juice we need. From our "Can't leave home without it" mobile phone or ipod, laptop, GPS and so on.

I had been asking myself, what if I am out there biking for months, out of the city and there are no power source to power my gadget. No electricity or what so ever. So I did a research a year back and found the only way to get electricity is from the Sun. Now how are we going to do it???!!

Garmin Oregon 400t

After months of research on the latest Garmin GPS, I finally deicded to get one for myself; the latest touch screen GPS!! I would not have bought it if my Garmin Vista Hcx would show Chinese text on the map but it didn't. Instead it showed all the garbage symbols....Grr
